Outbreak Day Becomes The Last of Us Day

September 26th holds special significance for fans of The Last of Us. In the world of the game, September 26th is when the cordyceps fungus hit critical mass; known as Outbreak Day. Since 2013, Sony, Naughty Dog, and other partners have used September 26th, Outbreak Day, to shine a light on the community, as well as releasing exclusive merchandise, special content, and more.

This year, with the COVID-19 pandemic still a significant factor in the world, Naughty Dog released a statement officially retiring the Outbreak Day banner. Every September 26th from here on out will simply be called The Last of Us Day.

What will be in store for Saturday? It’s hard to say, but more than likely, there will be sales of The Last of Us and related content on the PlayStation Store, and, like the end of their statement above “a lot of exciting things planned and we can’t wait to share them with you in just a few days!”

(I’m hoping for another musical scene!)
