New Year.

I hate the “New Year, New Me” bull. Also, MOTHER TRUCKER it is cold right now.

Hello! This blog post will be more of an IRL post than anything relating to gaming, though I will touch on that of course. It’s as good of a time as any, right, to talk about goals and stuff? (Especially in the face of soul-crushing rejection?)

TL;DR to that statement: Applied for another Rooster Teeth Internship in November. Had a phone screener. Two weeks or so later, I got an email for another phone interview. I felt really jazzed about it because I thought I CRUSHED it.

It turns out I did not. I was pretty miserable about it for about twelve hours after, then applied to an Internship at EA, where remote working was an option. (Seriously, how do more internships NOT have remote possibilities? I didn’t have to go through this the first time I went to school, but even if I didn’t have Will, it would be a HUGE financial burden to up and move somewhere for three months for an internship, even with getting paid for it.)

So, there’s that. MOVING ON. (Because if I dwell on that, I will cry again. And I hate crying.)

Goals and Stuff.

My first semester back at school was excellent. I ended up with a 4.0, and, considering I graduated with my first Bachelor’s in 2009, doing that after more than ten years felt great. The fact that I did it while taking fifteen credits (five classes) was even better. (Full-time is 12 credits.)

The next semester starts on January 10th, and I’m only taking twelve credits (four classes). Two will be on campus (which I’m not exactly happy about, but I’ll deal), and two will be wholly online. The two on-campus are on the same day and back-to-back, which is nice. The goal for this semester is, of course, another 4.0 and TO GET A DAMN INTERNSHIP somewhere related to the gaming/tech spheres.

Content on this space and Twitch went by the wayside last semester with that full class load and still being a single parent (until August). I decided that Twitch isn’t going to be my priority right now; I’ll still stream on there (probably until I get an Affiliate payout, which will probably take a bit), but I’m going to put focus on my YouTube channel for the foreseeable future. Will that pay off? Who the hell knows?

In the immediate future on YT, by the end of January, I hope to have a new channel trailer uploaded and a vlog-type video where I reintroduce myself and what I’m up to.

Gaming!

I’m going to try and play less this year. YES, YOU HEARD THAT RIGHT.

I am not going crazy, though. At least, not any more than I already am. 2022 is going to be filled with SO MANY notable titles; I know that. I hope that I can provide better content by concentrating on less of them.

(And finish stuff, and keep my sanity in check.)

For the Winter, the Life is Strange Remastered Collection, Horizon Forbidden West, and Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands are the only games I will play. I enjoyed writing the “What to Know” posts I started writing last year and will keep doing that. Most of all, I need to get back to writing news pieces.

And, I’m going to try and get myself a video card this year. Maybe even try to get a 3050 because even that will be an improvement over my current 1080. If I can’t, faster RAM is the priority. I’m running 2400 MHz Corsair sticks right now, and my mobo can handle MUCH quicker.
