WE ARE SEX BOB-OMB, AND WE’RE HERE (TO MAKE YOU FEEL [SOMEWHAT] BETTER ABOUT 2021!!)

I love Scott Pilgrim. Now, I’ll admit, it took watching the movie to open my eyes to it, but I devoured the graphic novels after doing so. (And the movie? It’s my solid #2 for a sick day movie.)

(First, I should say: Welcome! Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game – Complete Edition is the first in what I hope is going to be a series of games and things I’m excited for in 2021. Second: It’s been a HELL of a week, y’all. UFF DA.)

Side-scrolling beat ‘em ups are something that I usually avoid. It’s just not my cup of tea, but for $10, which was the asking price for Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game, it was worth a shot. It quickly became one of my favorite games on the PlayStation 3. Everything about it, from the retro-graphic aesthetic to the soundtrack and the fighting styles of the different characters was VERY truthful to the movie and the graphic novel series I’d come to love.

2010 was an easier time…

(The only thing I didn’t like? Man, it was tough as BALLS. But the (now) hubs and I had just finished moving states when it came out and it was a great distraction from the nerves of finding a job, getting married in two months, and having no friends yet.)

Because of my love for it, I ended up getting it on the Xbox 360 in 2011. The game was delisted at the end of the year in 2014, more than likely due to contracts and license issues. (I’m not sure if we ever got a firm answer.) I’d given up my PS3 by then for the PS4, but I still had an Xbox 360 then (mainly because I was addicted still to Black Ops 2). Long story short: I ended up having to get rid of the 360.

Never, Ever Again?

Getting the game back on next-gen systems was always something of a pipe dream, I thought because I knew that contracts and license things could be super complicated. Until I saw this exchange:

Could it be?

Also me in 2020: HOW HAS IT BEEN TEN YEARS SINCE THE MOVIE RELEASED??

Cue the September 2020 Ubisoft Forward event, and suddenly, Scott Pilgrim’s BACK! And would be back on basically everything. Stadia, Switch, PS4, PC, and Xbox One. And the entire roster would return as well, even the DLC characters from the first game; Knives and Wallace. Anamanaguchi’s soundtrack, which was the real heart of the game, in my opinion, would be back too. Now, the question is, what to play it on? Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game – Complete Edition releases on January 14th, 2021!
